The women in Dont Plateau, 60 km away from Fethiye, had been meeting all the needs of the region from jug to incense for centuries. This tradition, passed down from mother to daughter, is now on the verge of disappearing today with the change of life conditions. Currently, only a few people who migrate to the plateau in the summer are engaged in pottery: this knowledge can no longer be passed to the younger generation.

We started to travel to Dont Plateau with Beyza Yavuz in September 2021. Thanks to Özen Çavdar, we learned a lot about the local clay, the regional pottery and the culture of the region.
